SAFE Haven for Cats is the first no-kill shelter in North Carolina. Articulon started an integrated campaign with media relations, website management, email and event promotion, and social media. Highlights include an integrated holiday fundraising campaign that raised more than $200,000, an adoption event that found homes for 85 cats, an annual Tuxedo Cat Ball that had more attendees than any previous year, and the management of all social media accounts growing – not only the followers, but engagement.

SAFE Haven’s mission is to ensure the well-being of every cat through adoption, affordable spay/neuter services, community outreach and adherence to No Kill principles.  The shelter receives no government funds and relies solely on private donations for 72% of its budget. The balance of the operating budget comes from adoption fees.

Crisis Communication

SAFE Haven for Cats has been  involved in multiple North Carolina hoarding rescues in which they worked with local law enforcement and national animal rescue groups. Articulon created campaigns for the rescued cats that were sent to the supporters through social media and email campaigns. The campaigns have raised more than $15,000 + to help supplement the medical costs of the rescued cats. The local media was pitched on SAFE Haven’s involvement and the executive director was interviewed from multiple stations as an expert on hoarding rescue.

ABC 11 covers a local hoarding incident where SAFE Haven was able to rescue ten of the hoarded cats.
