Kingsdown’s premium mattress division, Sleep to Live, provided the mattresses used to break a Guinness World Record. The mattresses were then donated to charity.

“Kingsdown has been a great North Carolina-based company for more than a century,” says Heather Dean, HPG Partner. “We congratulate them on finding such a unique way to give back to the community.”

As part of Guinness World Record Breaker Week in September, the LIVE! show partnered with Sleep to Live to break the record for largest human mattress dominoes. Held on the flight deck of the USS Intrepid, people held the mattresses on end and were toppled in a domino fashion. A total of 380 mattresses were used, breaking the previous record of 256. After the show, the mattresses were donated to Furnish a Future, a New York City program of The Partnership for the Homeless that helps people rebuilding their lives after leaving shelters.

“Kingsdown was humbled to be selected by ‘LIVE!’ for this annual week of record-breaking events and thrilled that people in need received such an important and essential item for their new homes,” said Frank Hood, senior vice president and chief information officer for Kingsdown. “Our partnership with ‘LIVE!’ not only set a Guinness World Record but gave more than 400 families who were formerly homeless a new mattress to help restart their lives.”
