DocuSource Celebrates 10 Years of Service

RTP, N.C. (October 17, 2011) — DocuSource (www.docusourceofnc.com), a full-service integrated marketing solutions provider, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary as a Triangle enterprise. The company is led by CEO Kathy Murchison, one of the most successful women business owners in the area. The celebration will include a client-appreciation event in October.

Nagoya University Names Articulon AOR

Branding and public relations firm Articulon announced that it has been named the agency of record for Nagoya University’s NU Tech Regenerative Medicine Roundtable. This is the third time Nagoya University has retained the firm to assist with event promotion and materials.

Articulon Takes Silver, Gold and Best in Division

 

RALEIGH, N.C. (September 29, 2010) — Raleigh’s branding and public relations firm Articulon (www.articulon.com) received three Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communication at the 52nd annual Raleigh Public Relations Society (www.rprs.org) awards banquet. The firm was recognized with silver, gold and best in division honors for client work performed on behalf of Hughes Pittman and Gupton, LLP and Brady. The event was held on Sept. 27, 2011, at the Renaissance Hotel at North Hills.

Articulon received a silver award in the Organizational Identity/Promotion category for an awareness campaign for Brady, a company that provides high-efficiency HVAC systems and comprehensive building solutions for commercial and industrial facilities. The firm also landed both gold and best in division awards for public relations work with CPA firm HPG.

During the past several years, the firm has won 11 Sir Walter Raleigh awards, including best in division honors four times. Sixth Annual Magnificent Mile Race Set for September 18

The Magnificent Mile RaceRALEIGH, N.C. (August 9, 2011) — Celebrating its sixth anniversary, The Magnificent Mile RaceSM (www.magmilerace.com) will take place on Sunday, September 18, 2011. The fundraising event includes competitive, recreational and kids’ races, as well as a street festival with family friendly activities, food and prizes. Proceeds benefit the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation and help fund research grants awarded to find a cure for upper motor neuron diseases.

Notable sports, entertainment and business personalities are once again lending their influence. For a third consecutive year, Charlie Slagle, Capital Area Soccer League CEO and host of the Back of the Net radio program, is challenging CASL members, coaches and parents to “Beat the Old Man.” The top five CASL males and the top five CASL females will receive prizes. Debra Morgan of WRAL will be emceeing the event. In addition, Dr. Richard Bedlack of Duke University will be on hand to discuss the latest research developments in the area of motor neuron disease.

“We are thankful to the more than 3,600 people who have participated in the event during our first five years,” says Sarah Roberts-Witt, co-founder of The Magnificent Mile Race. “Their continued support has helped us raise more than $200,000 to fund research into motor neuron disease.”

New this year, competitive racers, who are 15 years or older, have the option to purchase a moisture-wicking tech shirt when signing up for the race. All other race participants will receive a commemorative cotton race t-shirt.

Giles Shih Named to The NC Ag Biotech Advisory Council

Giles Shih, Ph.D.RTP, N.C. (July 26, 2011)—North Carolina agricultural biotechnology company BioResource International, Inc. (www.briworldwide.com) announces today that Chairman and CEO Giles Shih, Ph.D. has accepted a three-year appointment to The North Carolina Agricultural Biotechnology Advisory Council. Shih will join 21 industry leaders from businesses and universities, as well as government and private organizations across North Carolina.

“We are pleased to add Giles to the council,” says Dr. Harold Martin., co-chair of the council and chancellor of North Carolina A&T State University. “The experience he brings, growing BRI from start-up to a multi-million dollar company, will be an asset as we move forward.”

Shih has a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Emory University, as well as an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Prior to co-founding BRI, he served as a consultant for biotechnology venture capital firms. He serves on the Advisory Board of the North Carolina State University Technology Incubator and is active in the North Carolina World Trade Association and North Carolina Chinese Business Association.

“More and more we see agriculture being paired with biotechnology to feed, fuel, heal and clothe people here and around the world,” said Gwyn Riddick, vice president for agricultural biotechnology at the Biotechnology Center. “This council is working to move those ideas forward and to accelerate North Carolina’s economic productivity from agriculture to $100 billion by 2020.”

The council was established in December of 2010 by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center. Its directive is to identify goals, strategies and activities to strengthen agricultural biotechnology endeavors throughout the state and assist in implementation of recommendations from the State’s 30 in 10 Strategic Report.
