Articulon News and Announcements

Month 3: Articulon Scrabbles with Boys & Girls Club

In our third month celebrating Articulon’s 10-year anniversary, our commitment to give back to the community is stronger than ever. We’re using the power of 10 to make a difference in the lives of Triangle residents.

We’ll Visit 10 non-profits during 10 months on 10 unique holidays, donating 10 gifts in 10 creative ways.

This year, we’ve celebrated National Tortilla Chip Day with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina in February; and in March we learned about critical programs for students at the Tammy Lynn Center honoring National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

Scrabble Fun
What better way to kick off Friday the 13th than to celebrate one of America’s favorite games—SCRABBLE!

Today, April 13, is National Scrabble Day.

Did you know that Scrabble is sold in 121 countries in 29 different languages? Not only is the game fun and educational, but it also helps players learn math and thinking skills.

To observe Scrabble Day, the Articulon team visited the Wake County Boys & Girls Clubs – Brentwood location. Kids, volunteers and the staff loved the new donation of assorted scrabble sets. We toured the arts & crafts room, the tech center, gym and games rooms, and, most of all, enjoyed the chance to play a few games of scrabble with the kids.

The Wake Boys & Girls Clubs provide a safe enviornment for young people to enjoy a range of fun and educational activities. Last year, the clubs had more than 4,000 members. The clubs offer five core programs: Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.

Articulon 10-year Anniversary LogoTo celebrate our 10th anniversary, we’re using the power of 10 to make a difference in the lives of Triangle residents. What this means is that for 10 months we will multiply our creativity by the power of 10 in support of local non-profits organizations.

10 charities, over 10 months on 10 unique holidays receive 10 gifts in 10 creative ways.

Alvin thinks Sarah and Cindy are #1Last month, we kicked off our celebration by supporting the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina on National Tortilla Chip Day – (Click here to check it out).

In honor of March as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness month, we wanted to gain some insight about the needs of this special group of people.

Did you know that more than 5 million Americans have a developmental disability, including 167,000 in North Carolina? We sure didn’t! Providing care and love to these individuals and families in Wake County is Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.

Articulon visited Tammy Lynn Center this week to spend time with the students, staff and teachers. We experienced the interactive adaptive playground, joined the classroom and donated 10 craft kits filled with art supplies and bubbles.

Programs and services at the center include:

  • Early Intervention
  • Day Services
  • Therapy Services
  • Respite Care Program
  • Residential Services

Tacquire Data Publishes with Cary Chamber of Commerce

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 19, 2012) – The Triangle Commercial Association of REALTORS®, announces today the integration of its commercial real estate exchange portal, Tacquire, into the Cary Chamber of Commerce’s economic development website (www.caryeconomicdevelopment.com). The site provides business, economic and community information for companies considering relocation to Cary. The addition of Tacquire’s portal provides visitors with real-time property and listing data.

“Cary has long been viewed as a desirable place to build prosperous businesses and strong families, and this is shown through its burgeoning growth,” says Sanford Jordan, vice president of the Cary Economic Development program. “Tacquire’s database provides easily accessible, up-to-date information that will be valuable in sustaining this growth.”

The Tacquire web portal tracks office, industrial, retail and specialty space available for lease across the Triangle region, as well as buildings and land being marketed for sale. The database is set up to be searchable by location, property type, price range and square footage. Results can be printed, converted to a PDF, or emailed.

“We are proud to partner with the town of Cary and other Triangle municipalities in integrating the Tacquire portal,” says Elizabeth Gates, Tacquire president. “Oftentimes, these economic development websites serve as the first place a company visits when looking to relocate, and our searchable database puts valuable information at their fingertips while also providing additional exposure for member listings.”

TCAR’s partnership marks the sixth since introducing Tacquire in 2010. In addition to working with Cary Chamber of Commerce,  the organization has integrated its Tacquire search database into the Raleigh Economic Development (www.raleigh4u.com), the Wake County Economic Development (www.raleigh-wake.org), the Town of Chapel Hill Economic Development (www.opentobusiness.biz), Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce (www.discoverwakeforest.org) and Downtown Raleigh Alliance (www.YouRHere.com) websites.

Halfway There!

Hello all!

Sarah Wood - Woof Gang Bakery TshirtI’m Sarah Wood, a senior from N.C. State (That’s me to the right). I joined Articulon in January as a public relations intern and am excited to report that I have now reached the halfway mark. It’s gone by so fast, but I’m learning so much.

Working at an agency is definitely different from working for one organization. Instead of working with one client, you’re working with multiple clients daily on different projects. The projects vary, which is great because it provides more opportunities to learn and utilize your creativity. With one client we could be working on rebranding a new identity to target a broader audience, and another client we could be working on revamping their website to be up-to-date.

Most assuredly, a lot of things can go on during a day at a public relations/branding agency. Now that I’m halfway toward the end, I’m definitely excited to see what will come my way when I get back from spring break.

And speaking of spring break, I will be going down to Louisiana with an organization from N.C. State, Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service (CSLEPS), on an alternative spring break trip to work with Habitat for Humanity on a site near the Gulf Coast, one of the disaster areas from Hurricane Katrina. I know my group and I are eager to go down there and help the communities in need and learn a little about that Louisiana culture that we don’t see up here!

While I’m gone I’ll take pictures and bring them back to share so people can see what we did and what we learned. When I get back I know the other half of the final semester of my college days and the other half of my internship will be waiting on me. I will be excited to come back and learn, but for now this intern is headed south and might end up on the bayou!

Be back soon!

– Sarah
