Boom! Magazine Offers Alternative Holiday Gift Ideas

CARY, N.C. (December 6, 2010) Barbara Petty, publisher of Boom! Magazine (boomnc.com), a monthly publication dedicated to the active lifestyle of those 45 and older, announces today that the magazine’s 2010 Alternative Gift Giving Guide has been published. The fifth edition of the guide is included in the December issue of Boom!, available now at more than 650 Triangle locations. To find a distribution site near you, visit boomnc.com and click on the “About Boom” button.

Looking for the new, different and useful, Boom! editors compile gift-giving ideas from items that have come into the office over the past year. Sample suggestions in this year’s guide include charitable giving, a new fast-cook oven, golf lessons and healthy cook books. “We offer suggestions for gifts for children and grandchildren as well,” says Petty, who co-publishes Boom! with her husband, Greg. “This year we found some really fun and unique items for the younger generation. What about your very own Personal Domain Name, or shares in Warren Buffet stock?” Techno buffs will find suggestions for some of the latest gadgets, and there are tips for the outdoor adventurer, supplies for gardening buffs and a new device for individuals who prefer to work out in their own home. “This alternative gift giving guide is our most comprehensive to date,” adds Petty. “We are excited to share it with Boom! readers.”

Petty continually seeks out unique ideas for the annual guide and encourages individuals to e-mail Barbara@boomnc.com with their gift giving or receiving ideas. Selected ideas may be included in the 2011 Gift Guide.
