3,000 Expected for 2010 Ridgewood Turkey Trot
RALEIGH, N.C. (October 25, 2010) — The annual Thanksgiving Day Ridgewood Turkey Trot (www.ridgewoodturkeytrot.com) will be held on Thursday, November 25 at the Ridgewood Shopping Center at Wade Ave. and Ridge Road in Raleigh. Presented by Ridgewood Shopping Center, Fleet Feet Sports, Raleigh and Mizuno Corporation, the Triangle-area Thanksgiving Day tradition is expected to draw 3,000 participants. It will feature a competitive and noncompetitive 8k run, a one-mile fun run, a kids’ dash and kid-friendly activities.
“We are thankful for the sustained support from the community that has made the Turkey Trot such a success,” says Bruce Bokish, Ridgewood Turkey Trot event director. “It’s a fantastic morning for the whole family and a great way to start the holiday off.”
Bokish notes that real-time technologies will be available to improve the participant experience. Provided by Precision Race, these include:
- Disposable bib-chip timing – eliminating chip lines and congestion before and after the race
- Large-screen displays that show runner’s names, bib numbers and time as they cross the finish line
- Real-time results kiosks – after finishing the race, runners can head to the touch-screen results kiosks, type in their bib number and see their finish time, overall finish place and age-group place, then print out the results. All runners’ times are displayed on a continuously scrolling display.
