BRI Supports Local Charity Concert Organized by Band Together NC
RTP, N.C. (May 6, 2011)—BioResource International, Inc. (www.briworldwide.com), a North Carolina agricultural biotechnology company, announces today its support of the May 7 charity concert by Band Together NC(www.bandtogethernc.org). The Triangle-based nonprofit raises funds and awareness for local charities through music. BRI and its executives have been sponsors and supported Band Together since the first concert in 2001.
“We are honored to have the chance to give back to the community by sponsoring this Band Together event that helps raise funds for and build awareness of local charities,” says Giles Shih, Ph.D., BRI CEO. “We are especially excited that this year’s concert will benefit Alliance Medical Ministries, a local organization that is making a real difference in peoples’ lives in the Triangle area.”
Hans Huang, BRI general counsel, is a founding member of Band Together and has served on its board of directors. Other BRI team members have volunteered with the organization in event planning and organization.
Support of Band Together is consistent with BRI’s dedication to building healthy, sustainable communities. The company harnesses technology to improve people’s lives and livelihoods by developing innovative agricultural products that are cost-efficient and reduce the environmental impact of farming operations. Band Together harnesses the musical talent and resources of the community to support a healthy and sustainable Triangle. Run by volunteers, the organization has raised more than $1 million to address area needs including feeding the hungry and providing for the health and safety of children.
In its 10th year, the fundraising concert will feature headliner Third Eye Blind as well as regional bands Dillon Fence, U.S. Royalty and Lonnie Walker. Ticket holders can also enjoy a late-night show featuring I Was Totally Destroying It. This year’s event will benefit Alliance Medical Ministry, a faith-led nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable healthcare to the working uninsured in Wake County.
