FMI Becomes the First and Only Associate Member of CIECI

FMI Corporation, the largest provider of investment banking and management consulting to the engineering and construction industry, announces today that the firm has been named the first and only associate member of the Construction Industry Ethics & Compliance Initiative. On May 2, 2012, the CIECI steering committee established a new class of membership. Associate Members, limited to ten at any given time, are organizations invited by the CIECI for membership on the basis of professional services provided to the construction industry.

FMI has been well respected by the CIECI steering committee but excluded from regular membership. Regular membership in the CIECI is limited to responsible companies that design and build projects, including architect-engineers, general contractors, specialty contractors and subcontractors.

After extensive discussion, the steering committee decided to establish this new level of membership. Careful to not open the door too wide, the steering committee set in place an associate membership process to prevent professional service providers from joining that would use the CIECI for business development purposes and not contribute to its mission and purpose.

As a matter of prudent practice, applications for associate membership must be based on an invitation from a CIECI company. All applicants must meet the same due diligence review as regular membership. In addition applicants must be reviewed by the Steering Committee prior to acceptance. Associate Members may fully participate is all programs and activities as non-voting members.
